I was a stamp collector as a kid, and I remember thinking back then how great it would be to make stamps of my own.
Fast forward a few(?) years, and it's finally going to happen. I recently discovered letterpress printing and printing poster stamps like the sample shown at left was on my mind from the first day in the printshop. |
Our decision to go on the JoCo Cruise for the second time in March 2020 finally got me moving on the idea. On the cruise, there's an event call the Maker's Exchange where...wait for it...makers exchange stuff. |

Booklets of JoCo Cruise 2020 commemorative stamps sounded like cool things to make for the exchange.
In the early 20th century, stamp booklets frequently had decorative covers and advertising on the covers, in the margins of the stamp panes, and on other pages bound into the booklets. I wanted to do something like this in my booklets. At left is a series of pictures of a couple of similar booklets of the same French stamp from the 1920s. |
The first question was what to put on the stamps.
